What's next? I don't know, do you? Who am I? I am someone who makes films. What do I do? I look through viewfinders. And how do I live? I live by the skin of my teeth.

The Name Of The Rose, Part Deux

I choose this image, because my thougts have to do with the Roman Catholic Church and its strict ass-whipping of peoples minds throughout the centuries that it's been around.

Have you been following the eruption of the Intelligent Design Debate that has poisoning our news outlets since its teaching was being denied in a Pennsylvania school district.

Last night the author of this book DARWIN'S BLACK BOX was yammering on Hannity & Combs about the value of his theory, even though it's nigh impossible to prove.

Intelligent Design sounds like an updated version of Creationism which is the bete noir for Darwin's Theory of Evolution/Natural Selection Concept. A friend of mine recommended that I read DARWIN'S BLACK BOX a couple year ago, but I never got around to it -- perhaps I should haven, although I might have thrown the book across the room (incidently, I decided to read GUNS, GERMS & STEEL instead, which is more than fascinating and captivating).

Anyway, as I listened to this guy Behe stridently argue with those provacateurs on Fox News this whole argument/debate began to remind me of something. And that something is Umberto Eco's novel THE NAME OF THE ROSE (which everyone should read, if they interested in understanding the absurdity of the Catholic Church). At the crux of the novel, behind the murder mystery and the denial of knowledge is this Church Debate between the Papacy and the Franciscian and Dominician monks in regards to whether or not Christ owned his clothes (as that would determine if the Church should take a vow of poverty).

Eco uses this damn-fool theological battleground to indicate the complete idiocy that people get concerned with when it comes to how did life as we know it come to exist on this planet.

You have to take into account their MUST be intelligent energy fields throughout the universe, otherwise how could you explain why we are here?

In THE NAME OF THE ROSE, no one seems to ask "why the fuck do we care if Christ owned his clothes or not, because there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to prove it." Yet these people (based off of real life shit) were actually calling each other heretics and getting people fucked over by the Inquisition and burned at the stake all in the name of some jackass principal.

I'm not one to say that you shouldn't fight long and hard for yout beliefs (otherwise you're a supreme bitch-ass), but what true consequence to the world that you inhabit occurs is Christ owned his clothers or to the point I'm addressing, if life evolved from Creationism, Intelligent Design or Natural Selection? On a certain level, natural selection requires a intelligence. You have to learn how to spot what is a fucked-up trait and what isn't?

WIll the world be better off if Intelligent Design taught in school? Fuck no. Will it be better off if Creationism is taught in school? Fuck no. Will it be better of is Evolution is taught in school? Fuck no.

See there is no gain from this course of perversion of study... why does it seem that this type of shit is always being fought over in the US Courts? 'Cause a high percentage of the US public (something 25%) are Evangelical Christians, and they not only want to have their beliefs, they want YOU to have their beliefs too! Whether you like it or not!

It's all still a Church v. State argument, and that should be curtailed to private study. Don't waste tax dollars on this field. If you belief in any of the possibilities, then go to college (or the library) and learn about this shit on your own AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE.
